Creating stories that soar

Instagram stories at Alaska are used to inform, inspire and excite those who follow. They share stories about frontline employees, let everyone know about upcoming deals, and keep their followers in the loop about exciting events.

Sharing Stories

The marketing team and brand studio follow a general roadmap when envisioning an instagram story. The social team concepts an idea that aligns with an upcoming campaign or event, then I am given copy and a general direction on what type of collateral is needed for each project. I layout how I think the story will best look, noting where motion design should be considered. After receiving feedback on my designs, I create the story from the ground up.

Below are some examples of Instagram stories I created.

Below are three nonconsecutive slides from that series of stories published from November 25th-December 2nd 2019.

Ugly Sweater Priority Boarding

Every year Alaska makes an “ugly sweater” to celebrate National Ugly Sweater Day. On that day, if you wear an ugly sweater, you get Priority Boarding! I created a series of stories to spread awareness beforehand, celebrate on the day of and share a recap after.

Below are slides from the awareness set within the series of stories.

Alaska Airlines + Starbucks Red Cup Launch

Partnering with Starbucks, Alaska wanted to celebrate the launch of the 2019 Starbucks Red Cup. Guests flying from November 7th-10th with a Starbucks coffee cup in hand would get Priority Boarding! I animated several slides of the larger story.

Below are some of the slides I animated from that story.
