Bringing motion to Instagram stories
Social media is where a brands personality can soar. Alaska Airlines, like many others, uses animated gifs in their Instagram stories—I created a few for guests, as well as the social marketing team, to use in their stories.
Animating an Airline
To give Alaska Airlines’ Instagram stories a pop of fun we created a suite of gifs with an intentionally light-handed brand focus. I wanted to ensure the gifs would be uniquely Alaska while avoiding using the logo as a way to tie back to the brand. These gifs have been used by our social media team, employees and guests looking to add a little Alaska flare to their stories.
In collaboration with an illustrator, I animated several sets of simple vector illustrations designed in the Alaska brand colors. Below are a selection of the gifs created. To access these on instagram, search for “Alaska Airlines” in giphy and add any additional search terms. e.g. “Alaska Airlines Hearts” or “Alaska Air Luggage”
